Summary

Description
English: Plate 42 from The North American Sylva: "Sugar Maple. Acer saccharinum" [sic.].

Note that Acer saccharinum var. glaucum Schmidt (1812) is a synonym of Acer saccharum Marshall (1785), possibly leading to this mismatch. Acer saccharinum (now commonly called silver maple) was shown in a separate illustration in this book as White Maple (Acer eriocarpum Michx. 1803). See The North American Sylva gallery page for more info.
