Auburn was a former gold mining town currently located off Oregon Route 7. At one time it was the largest city in Eastern Oregon, with over 20 stores and 1000 homes to serve the mining industry. It was made the original county seat of Baker County in 1862. It was also home to the first post office in northeastern Oregon.
