There are four basic operators, which are used to work with numbers for uses besides counting. They are:

  • addition
  • subtraction
  • multiplication (The symbols * and are also used to multiply)
  • division (The symbol / is also used to divide)

Addition

Addition is the total of two numbers. For example:
