[edit | edit source]The easiest way to solve a quadratic equation is to factor the problem. Steps:
- Make "Y" a zero.
- list all the factors of "a" in y=ax2+bx+c.
- List all the factors of "c" in y=ax2+bx+c.
- See which factors can be used in such a way that when added or subtracted together they equal "b"
Example Problems
[edit | edit source]y=x2+2x+1
- a=1 1*1=1
- c=1 1*1=1
- b=2 1+1=2
0=(x+1)(x+1) or 0=(x+1)2 x=-1
