Biscuit Jointer
[edit | edit source]A biscuit jointer machines a groove of fixed depth & width into a piece of lumber. The grooves are of set standard sizes. An oval "biscuit" of pressed beech is placed into the groove. This biscuit expands when exposed to a water-based glue, thus strengthening the joint. In some cases biscuit jointing provides a stronger joint than traditional dowel joints.
