Introduction
[edit | edit source]Celestia can be started either by clicking on its icon or by typing a command into a terminal window. Under Windows, the terminal window is often called a DOS window or CMD window.
A typical command to run Celestia might be
cd Celestia ./Celestia
The command line can optionally include the following qualifiers. These qualifiers are different depending on which command interface Celestia was built for. Each command qualifier (aka switch) should be prefixed by two hyphens
Windows command qualifiers

- Change root celestia directory to <path>
- --fullscreen
- Start Celestia in fullscreen mode
- --once
- Send the command line to a running instance of Celestia. If no running instance exists, a new one is started.
- --url <url>|<filename>
- Start in the given <url> or if the parameter is the name of a script file, execute <filename>.
- --verbose > <filename>
- Write debug messages to <filename> (Although --verbose can only write to a file, the redirection > is required.)

- Use alternate configuration file
- --dir
- Use alternate installation directory
- --extrasdir
- Use additional "extras" directory
- --fullscreen
- Start full-screen
- --nosplash
- Disable splash screen
- - v [0|1]
- Enable debug mode.
