"The Star-Spangled Banner" opens on an arpeggio
A scale is a group of musical notes arranged by volume or pitch. There are many scales, such as G Major Scale, E Major Scale, etc.

An arpeggio is very similar to a scale, but it is shorter. A famous arpeggio is the opening of "The Star-Spangled Banner."
