2. Ra3 is a blunder as it allows 2...Bxa3!, when Black is up an exchange with good chances for the advantage after 3. bxa3, weakening White's pawns, or 3. Nxa3, when the knight is sidelined from the center, and after d5 White is in a losing position. The move 2. Ra3 is known as the Banned Gambit among chess players.
