[edit | edit source]White's only way to recover the pawn back is 3. Bxf7+. This move may seem like a horrible blunder that loses a bishop, but in fact it wins a knight instead. This move also prevents the king from castling, but the black king will be in a relatively safe position after 3... Kxf7 4. Qh5+ Kg8 5. Qd5+ e6 6. Qxe4 d5!
