St. George Defence
[edit | edit source]2. c4
[edit | edit source]At first sight, it looks like a refutation of St Georges Defence. But Black keeps the powerful ability to play 2...e5, transposing into an open game where White have a misplaced pawn on c4.
2...b5 looks compromised as Black will lose one of the main benefit of the St Georges : the power at the queen side.
