Digital data is represented by a binary number stored as a series of bits. In digital systems a bit can only has either the value 0 or 1 .

A bit can only have either value 0 or 1 which is equivalent to

Swith On is 1 . Swith Off is 0
High is 1 . Low is 0
Positive is 1 . Negative is 0
