ERP Internals/Modules/Shipping

From Wikibooks, open books for an open world

Shipping receives orders from Warehouse Manager (picking) if there is no manufacturing involved or from Manufacturing if there is. It packs the goods, selects transportation to satisfy the customer's due date, and generates shipping documents such as labels, packing slips, and bills of lading. Customers can be notified electronically when the goods are shipped and Order Entry/Invoicing is notified so the order can be invoiced. Normally, Shipping and Receiving occur in the same physical location. Only large ERP packages have a separate Shipping module.
