Manning
[edit | edit source]Raptors are not "tamed" in training, they are manned. Even birds bred for several generations in captivity are not "tame" in the way that selectively bred domestic animals are. Hawks are manned - acclimated to the world of man - by being exposed to different things in a controlled manner. See below in the section The Training of Hawks for a detailed explanation of manning and training.
