I have taken the GAMSAT twice, I got an overall mark of 57 in 2006 and 62 in 2007. The most crucial thing to remember is timekeeping in the exam. I calculated what question I should be at by what time and stuck to it. This helped me keep the pace up, and meant I didn't dwell on things I didn't know.

The day before I took the GAMSAT I felt very disheartened at how long it was, that it covered such a wide range of topics to quite a high level, and that I'd done very averagely on 3 other med school entry exams. However, the day soon passed and it turns out I did very well on GAMSAT, so it goes to show you the best thing to do is to keep turning up to your entrance exams and try your hardest every time. I think the GAMSAT is a very fair exam and people who didn't do well on the MSAT (because of its weighting on verbal reasoning) and BMAT (because its of its weighting on GCSE / A-Level Maths & Physics)can demonstrate their understanding of degree-level science and humanities subjects.

I agree on the timekeeping. You may be used to normal test taking, but the GAMSAT is nothing like it. It is like a marathon. It's not only quick, but its a long slog. Hydrogamsat (discusscontribs) 17:23, 4 January 2014 (UTC)

I took the GAMSAT only once and managed to obtain a good enough mark to get an interview and subsequently got a place on the medical course. I managed to scrape just enough on the science part and did well on sections I and II to muster a good enough average. Time-keeping is completely crucial in this exam. You should have practised the exam under a strict time regime - also you should know how long on average you have per question. It's crucial to have this in mind so you can allocate enough time per question but not get bogged down in a question that is draining your overall time. A rule of thumb was that you will have to read the text as rapidly as possible and come up with your answer pretty much immediately. No dawdling or musing allowed sadly!

Another issue is that you should make sure to have all the questions answered even if it's at random. Randomly tick all the questions you haven't got round to answering.
