U.S. Coastal Zone Management Act
General Description
[edit | edit source]This Act declares a national interest in land use decisions previously viewed as local in nature by acknowledging that a rapidly growing population is endangering the fragility and beauty of the coastal zone.
Purpose
[edit | edit source]The purpose of the CZMA is to preserve the unique values of the coastal lands and waters by encouraging states to devise land and water use plans for coastal protection.
