Introduction

[edit | edit source]

Cathode rays are streams of electrons emitted in a evacuated tube known as a cathode ray tube or a discharge tube. The cathode rays flow from the cathode (negative electrode) to the anode (positive electrode). It is possible to deflect the path of the rays using electric and magnetic fields. This has lead to its use in many applications including the television and the computer.
