William Edward Hagarty was a prominent amateur operator, amateur broadcaster, amateur club administrator in the late 1920s and early 1930s, and a state public servant with the Postmaster-General's Department. His station callsign was 4WH (4=Queensland, W=William, H=Hagarty) and he operated from Longreach, Queensland.
