IB Music/Prescribed Works-2014/Texture
Appearance
(texture can refer to orchestration or the use of that instrumentation)
Prokofiev
[edit | edit source]- As he is imitating the classical period, as his piece is neoclassical, he uses instrumentation of the classical period meaning that the texture can be seen as polyphonic with intervals of complex homophony and imitation.
Chen Yung
[edit | edit source]- Thinner texture as the piano is emphasized and the orchestra is more for support. Sometimes there is a conversation (call and response) between the piano and the orchestra. The texture can be seen as homophonic as the piano is being featured, while the orchestra is playing more of an accompanying role.
