  • Aztreonam has good gram-negative coverage
  • It's often used for patients with beta-lactam allergies [1]
    • The one exception is ceftazidime, which has the same side chain, and can cause cross-reactivity
  • It can also be used as an alternative to aminoglycosides, since aztreonam isn't ototoxic or nephrotoxic[2]
