Inheritance Cycle/Eragon/Strangers in Carvahall
Strangers in Carvahall is the 9th chapter of Eragon. It takes the point of view of Eragon.
Summary
[edit | edit source]Eragon, Garrow, and Roran prepare for Roran's departure. Roran and Eragon receive words of advice from Garrow, and then leave.
In Carvahall, Roran talks with Dempton. Eragon likes the man but can't stand the fact that his cousin is leaving. Horst tells Eragon that there are strangers in town asking about the stone. He advises the boy to get rid of it and not let them know. Eragon leaves Horst's sight, only to slip back into town. While in town again, Eragon sees Sloan talking to the strangers, and giving them vital information. Eragon begins to head home when one of the Ra'zac transfixes him. It is only with Brom's help that Eragon is saved. Brom asks Eragon if anything is wrong, to which Eragon replies no. Then, Brom shakes Eragon's hand and "accidentally" takes away Eragon's mitt, revealing his shiney palm, which Brom notices. After replacing the mitt, Eragon leaves hastily.
