International Postage Meter Stamp Catalog/Czech Republic
Czech Republic
[edit | edit source]- The first meter was used in 1993 after the breakup of Czechoslovakia. All stamps show “CESKA REPUBLIKA” in the frank. For issues before 1993 see CZECHOSLOVAKIA.
- The stamps are grouped according to usage:
- A. Franks with simulated perforation outer frames
- B. Franks without outer frames
- PO. Stamps generated only by Post Office machines
GROUP A: Stamps for general commercial usage
[edit | edit source]- All have simulated-perforation outer border, straight-line inner border, country name in panel at top, and post horn at bottom.
Sub-group AA: Mechanical (non-digital) stamps

AA1. Postalia “D3” (MV).
- Frame is filled in between inner and outer border lines.
- Frank width variable from 26 to 29 mm. Frank frame thickness also variable.
- Value figures thin and narrow.
- Date figures 2, 2½ or 3 mm tall, with or without stops. If with stops, the one between M and Y is closer to the Y.

- As Type AA1 but inner and outer border lines are not filled in.
- Value figures thin and narrow.
- Date figures 3 mm tall, with stops. The stop between M and Y is always closer to the M.

- The town/post office identification is always pre-printed.
- The inner box at left usually contains a number, with or without letter(s) prefix, for registration, insurance or other special service. The date, weight and other point-of-sale codes are printed below the box. For routine mail without a special service, the point-of-sale data can print inside the box with a line of asterisks above.
- A. Yellow underprint somewhat heavy and uniform throughout the label
- B. Yellow underprint is light and is missing or much lighter inside the registration box and the inner frank
- C. Similar to A but with yellow underprint inverted.
- V/F: (00)0.00
- a. With "VSZ" below 0.00 value figures. This indicates the mail piece already had postage affixed. The label provides the registration number.
- b. With "BEZH" below the value figures. This indicates the postage was paid from the mailer's standing account with the post office.
- NOTES:
- Variations exist in both the width of the inner box at left and the font used to print the point-of-sale data. See examples at right. This may be due to system updates or the introduction of new models. More information is needed to describe these with greater accuracy.
- The value figures are found both on the same level as the line of asterisks/registration number and lower. (This may indicate different machine models.)
