Let's divide Digital Art, meaning visual art using digital media into the following rough categories

  • Imitation of traditional art (like Painter, ArtRage, ...)
  • enhancing traditional work (like coloring scanned inkings or enhance colors of a scanned image)
  • decontextualizing (using digital means for collages or seemingly real photographs)
