Explanatory Notes

[edit | edit source]Irish personal pronouns work much the same way as they do in English, with a few exceptions:
- Irish has no neutral pronoun equivalent to the English "it"; use the pronoun appropriate to the gender of the noun instead
- Unlike most dialects of English, Irish makes a distinction between the second person singular and second person plural
- Irish has a separate emphatic form used in certain situations
