Learn to Play Drums/Lessons/Exploring the Hi-Hats

From Wikibooks, open books for an open world
closed hi-hats can spice up a standard beat - time to challenge yourself - this is the first time you'll be using all four limbs simultaneously (unless you've been randomly practicing)!

This next beat is in 8/7 time (you can tell what tempo it is by the amount of hi-hat hits in one bar).
Notice the 'o' on the hi-hat's line. You know what to do... open ('o'pen) the hi-hats with your foot and close it on the next hi-hat hit.

HH|x-x-x-x-x-x-x-o-|x-x-x-x-x-x-x-o-|
T1|----------------|----------------|
Sn|----o-------o---|----o-------o---|
T2|----------------|----------------|
T3|----------------|----------------|
BD|o-------o-------|o-------o-o-----|

As usual, just practice this until you can repeat it for ever (well, you know).
Try out different places to open the hi-hats, for example, on the bass drum hits.
