Options affecting all LO

This section covers the arrangements that apply to all applications of LO, which is very useful, and the text editor. For information on settings not discussed here, see the program help.

  1. Go to 'Tools> Options'. The list on the left differs depending on which component of LO is open. The illustrations in this chapter show the list as it appears when there are no open documents. (Eg when you open a Writer document are displayed additional options for LibreOffice.org Writer and indication LibreOffice Writer / Web appears in the list).
  2. Press the + sign to the left of OpenOffice.org in the left list. A growing list of subsections.

Note: The Back button has the same function on all pages of the Options dialog. Resets all values ​​prevailing at the time you started the LibreOffice

Privacy Options

Because OOo's revision features characterize your changes and comments to the name or initials stored in the Personal Data, it is advisable to make that the name and initials appear correctly. To do this:

  1. In the Options dialog, click OpenOffice.org> User Data.
  2. Fill out the form on page OpenOffice.org Personal data (Figure 1) or delete any inaccurate information.

General Options

  1. In the Options dialog, click LibreOffice> General.

On LibreOffice - General, selections are as follows:

  • Help - Tips
When Help - Tips are selected, one or two words will appear when you hover the Mouse over an icon or field in the main window OOo. This setting also affects the appearance of notes: if and advice and Expanded Tips are disabled, you will not see the contents of a note otanperasete the cursor over it.
  • Help - Extended tips
When Extended tips are active, a brief description of function of a particular icon or menu command when you hover the pointer over this object.
  • Assistant
To turn off the Help Agent (similar to the Assistant Microsoft Office), de-select this box. To restore the default behavior of the Assistant, click on Restore Assistant.
  • Formatting help
High contrast is an operating system setting that changes the colors the system to improve readability. To help visualize the high contrast (if your computer supports it), choose a style from the high Contrast from the list.
  • Open dialog / Download
To use the Windows Open and Save dialogs as provided by the your system, uncheck the box Use the dialog OpenOffice.org. When this checkbox is selected will be used dialog boxes Open and Save of OpenOffice.org. See Chapter 3 (File Management) for more information on Windows Open and Save dialogs of OOo.
  • Document Status
Choose whether printing a document is calculated as amended. If this option is enabled, then the next time you close the form after printing, print date is recorded in the document properties as a change and you prompted to save the document again, even if you did not make any changes.
  • Year (two digits)
Specifies how two-digit years are interpreted. For example if the base year has been introduced in 1930 and a date of 1/1/30 and post in your document, this seen from 1/1/1930 onwards. An earlier date would be construed as being in next century, ie 1/1/20 is interpreted as 1/1/2020.

Memory Options

  1. In the Options dialog, click LibreOffice.org> Memory.
  2. In the dialog OpenOffice.org - Memory
  • H more memory can make OpenOffice.org faster and more convenient (for example, more undo steps require more memory) but there is less available memory for other applications and is likely to get a memory failure.
  • To load the Quickstarter (an icon on the desktop or in the system tray (system tray) when the computer starts, select the box near the bottom of the dialog. This makes OpenOffice.org to starts quickly in exchange for a commitment amount of memory even when not using OOo. This option ("Load OpenOffice.org during the boot ") is off in some installations Linux.

View Options

View the options affect the appearance and behavior of the document window.

  1. In the Options dialog, click OpenOffice.org> View.

On page # Display dialog OpenOffice.org - Options (Video) Set the options according to your personal preferences. Some of the options described below.

  • User Interface - Scale

If the text in the help files and menus of the OOo is too big or too small, you can change them by setting a rate. Sometimes a change here can have unpredictable results depending on the fonts available on your system. It does not affect the actual font size of text.

  • User Interface - Icon size and style

The first box specifies the display size of toolbar icons (small, large or automatically). The Automatic option uses the icon size of the operating your system. The second box specifies the set eikoindion (theme). Here the Automatic option uses an icon set compatible with your operating system and choice desktop: for example, KDE or Gnome on Linux.

  • User Interface - Use system font

If you prefer to use the font on your system (the default font for your computer and your operating system) instead of the font provided by OOo, user interface, select this checkbox.

  • User Interface - Antialiasing screen font

(Not available on Windows, so it appears in Figure 4) Check this box to normalize the appearance of text on the screen. Enter the smallest text size which will apply antialiasing.

  • Menu - icons in menus

Choose whether you want to display icons as well as descriptions of the menus.

  • Font Lists - Show preview of fonts

When using this option, the font list looks like Figure 5, left, with the names of fonts as well as samples. Without use of choose the font list shows only the font names, not samples (Fig. 5, right). The fonts you see are those installed on your system. Figure 5: (Left) with preview font list.   • Font Lists - Show font history

When using this option, the last five fonts you have use the current document displayed on the top of the list of fonts.

  • 3D View

These options are used with the Draw (Draw) and Impress (presentations). With more information about, see the online help or other documentation pertaining to these applications.

  • Mouse

Use these options to specify how the index is placed in mouse in the dialog boxes that open and to select the function middle button.

Set the print options to suit your default printer and the most common printing method. You can change these settings any time either through this dialog or during the process printing (by clicking Options in the Print dialog box).

  1. In the Options dialog, click LibreOffice> Print.
  2. In the dialog LibreOffice - Print (Figure 6), see section Warnings printer near the base of the window.
  3. Here you can choose whether to warn when the paper size or orientation defined in the document do not match what is available for your printer. The activation of these notifications can is extremely useful especially if you work with documents from people of countries where the standard paper size is different from the country you.

Tip: If your prints do not come out properly positioned on the page or cut limbs or the printer refuses to print, the more likely problem is incompatibility in size.

Route Options

You can change the location of files relating to or used by OpenOffice.org to suit your needs. In a system with Windows, for example example, you may want to be the storage of documents by default somewhere other than My Documents.

  1. In the Options dialog, click LibreOffice.org> Paths.
  2. To make changes, select an item from the list shown in Figure 7 and click Edit. In the Select Path dialog box (not shown),

add or delete folders according to your requirements and then click on OK return to the Options dialog box. Please be aware that many items have least two routes: one to a shared folder (which can find a network) and one in a special folder for the user (normally the user's computer).

Tip You can use the entries in the LibreOffice - Paths to create a list of files, such as those containing AutoText, that you need to copy to another computer or to backup.

Color Options

Dialog LibreOffice - Colors (Picture), you can specify the colors used in the documents of OOo. You can choose a color a color table, edit an existing color or specify new colors. These colors will then be available on pallets choice color of LO.

Font Options

You can replace any fonts appear in your documents. If receive from someone else a document containing fonts that do not exist in your system. LibreOffice will replace the ones you do not identify with others. Can wish to specify a different font from the program chooses.

  1. In the Options dialog, click LibreOffice.org> Fonts.
  2. In the dialog OpenOffice.org - Fonts select the Apply Replacement Table.
  • Select or type the name of the font will be replaced in the field
  • Font. (If you do not have this font on your system, you need to write the name as it will appear in the list.)
  • In the Replace with box, select an appropriate font from the list these are installed on your computer.
  • Type the colon, font feature tag, equal sign and ID after font name to set the appropriate font feature. (Works with Graphite fonts since version 3.3, works with OpenType fonts since version 3.3)
  1. The check mark (tick) the right of the Replace with box turns green. Make click it. A range of information now appears in most field below of the input fields. Select the Always single screen.
  2. At the bottom of the dialog box you can change the font and size used to display source code such as HTML and Basic (in

macros).

Security Options

Use this page LibreOffice - Security (Picture) to select the safety parameters for storing documents and opening documents that contain macros.

Display Options

The writing, editing and page layout are often easier to make when you can see as many of them occurring in your document. You may wish to make visible such items as text, tables and sections (Documents in Writer), page breaks in Calc, and grid lines in Draw or Writer. In addition, you may prefer different colors (from the default of LO) for items such as note indicators or field shadings. On page OpenOffice.org - View (Figure 11), you can determine which objects will are visible and the colors used to display various objects.

  1. In the Options dialog, click LibreOffice> Appearance.
  2. To show or hide items such as text boundaries, select or deselect the boxes next to the names of objects.

To change the default colors for items, click on the arrow pointing downwards in the column Color Setting (color separation) beside the name of object and select a color from the dropdown list.

  1. To save changes colors as the color scheme, click Save, type a name in the shape and click OK.

Accessibility Options

Accessibility options include whether to use animated graphics or text, some options for high contrast imaging and a method to change the font of the user interface of LibreOffice.

The accessibility support based on Java technology of Sun Microsystems for auxiliary communications technology tools. The option "Support assistive technology tools" does not appear in all installations of LO. See the "Assistive Tools in LibreOffice" Help

Other conditions and information.

  1. In the Options dialog, click OpenOffice.org> Accessibility.
  2. Select or clear depending on your requirements.

Java Options

If you install or upgrade the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) installed after LibreOffice or if you have more than one JRE on your computer, you To use the options page Java to select which JRE to use

If you're a system administrator, programmer or customize installations JRE You can use the pages Parameters and Class Path (from page Java) to determine this information.

  1. In the Options dialog, click LibreOffice.org> Java.
  2. If you do not see anything displayed in the middle of the page, wait a few minutes as the LO JRE looking for the hard disk.
  3. If the OO find one or more JRE, it will display there. You can then select the Using a box already installed Java runtime environment and (if required) to select a JRE from appearing.
