Remove Barrel and Cylinder Assembly from Sliding Block

1. Slotted setscrew fastening the rapid traversal shaft in gear spindle.

2. Raise the left side of the machine and support on a block. Remove the rearmost M5 screw fastening the gear carrier to the chassis.

3. Remove the innermost screw fastening the gear carrier to the chassis.

4. Loosen the outermost screw fastening the gear carrier to the chassis.

5. Remove the setscrew.

6. With a small rotation of the gear carrier, the shaft is disengaged from the gear spindle. Take care to avoid kinking the shaft.

7. Using a 3 mm wrench, remove the 6 screws fastening the barrel to the sliding block. Two screws below the cylinder first. Then the four screws above the cylinder.

8. The slotted setscrew fastening the cylinder orienting pin in the sliding block.

9. Remove the setscrew, bolt and spring from the sliding block.

10. The pin, spring, bolt and setscrew as arranged in the sliding block.

11. A needle probe can shift the pin down.

12. Remove the pin.

13. Before removing the barrel, rotate the large handwheel to bring the handle toward the rear of the machine and set the brake. Insert a stopper or similarly sized object to support the sliding block.
Caution: the barrel & cylinder assembly weighs approximately 3 kg. A dent or nick in an edge or surface can interfere with reassembly or operation. Withdraw the assembly from the sliding block without twisting, tilting or forcing. Take care to avoid kinking the flexible shaft or distorting the lever tension spring. The link block will disengage from the track in the barrel.

14. When removing the barrel and cylinder assembly, take care to avoid kinking the flexible shaft.

15. Withdraw the barrel and cylinder assembly from the sliding block.

16. The barrel and cylinder assembly removed from the sliding block and resting on the rear chassis of the machine.
