Setting up

[edit | edit source]

Most of the "Authors' Area" is set up at the time of writing. From now on it will be possible to concentrate more on producing lessons. However, I have been putting in intensive time to get things started, and will soon have to slow down drastically. Ideally I will reach a stable, steady work rhythm soon, and then we shall have to see how fast development of the course moves along. --A R King 15:07, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

"To do" list

[edit | edit source]

Right now, nearly everything :-)

Help needed!

[edit | edit source]

Miskito language expertise

[edit | edit source]

If by any chance there is anybody out there who knows Miskito, we really need your input on this, please! Let me say clearly and for all to hear that I am not a Miskito language specialist. My knowledge about the language is derivative from existing (and available) circulated materials. Until and unless somebody with sufficient knowledge of the language can give us feedback, users of the course are hereby warned!! Caveat emptor.

Any suggestions about what to do about this? --A R King 15:07, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

Graphics

[edit | edit source]

I am also somewhat "graphically impaired", so if there is anybody around who thinks they could lend a hand to improve the graphic content of this course, feel free to join in!

Feedback please!

[edit | edit source]

So far nobody has given any feedback on this course. I realise this is a "backwater" given that Miskito is a language fewer people are interested in learning than, say, French or Japanese. That just means that if anyone does happen across this material your opinion of it will be all that much more valuable! So please chip in, at least by saying what you think! I am going to be optimistic and set up a special discussion page for that. --A R King 06:46, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

Developer's notes

[edit | edit source]

To keep this section short and simple, new developments that are obvious from a look at the contents page (such as the addition of new lessons) will NOT be noted here.

Added parameters to vocab entries

[edit | edit source]

I've added a fourth parameter to the vocab template for a page-and-section link for each vocabulary item. This is handy when studying vocabulary as a single click takes the learner to the section where the word was introduced for the first time. But the real reason for the change is in order to pave the way for building the general vocabulary, since now I'll be able to copy all the lesson vocabulary items to the general vocabulary file, order them alphabetically, and each item will already include its lesson reference. As well as clicking, you can hover the mouse pointer over an item and see its lesson number! --A R King 07:08, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

Have now added a fifth parameter for further grammatical information. This provides a place to indicate ligature forms for nouns, verb classes etc. --A R King 07:58, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

After a long absence (sorry about that)...

[edit | edit source]
  • Added navigation links at the bottom of lesson pages (as well as the ones at the top) to facilitate moving on to the next lesson at a single click, following a suggestion made by 122.164.151.90 on the discussion page (which I'm glad to see is starting slowly to come to life!).
  • Finally fixed the template formatting that was making the Proposed syllabus page so unsightly. (Better late than never!)
