Monopoly/Buy Everything Expansion
The Buy Everything Expansion is one of three Monopoly expansions released by Hasbro in 2025. As its name suggests, this expansion allows the players to buy everything on the board - including the action spaces!
The object of the game has been changed - now the objective is to be the richest player once all of the properties have been purchased or to complete an instant win condition on a Sale card.
Equipment
[edit | edit source]As an expansion, the Buy Everything Expansion does not contain the equipment of the original Monopoly. It comes with the following equipment:
- Eight additonal title deeds, corresponsing to each of the action spaces.
- The Sale card deck. There are twenty cards in this deck, and they provide a player with special abilities that can be activated when the cards are purchased.
- The Sale Vault. This is a rotating stand that can hold three Sale cards. It comes with a base it spins on that has a slot designated for the rest of the Sale deck.
- The Buy Die. This die comes with six stickers that are applied to each of its six faces, two each of three different images.
- Four reminder cards, and an expansion guide.
Setup
[edit | edit source]To set up the expansion, set up a normal game of Monopoly, then do the following:
- Pay each player an additional ₩650, for ₩2,150 total, as follows: one ₩500 note, two ₩50 notes, two ₩20 notes and one ₩10 note.
- Insert the additional title deeds into the title deed deck. Each space's purchase price will be listed in the top-left corner of its title deed.
- Place the Sale Vault and its base in the centre of the board.
- Place the Buy Die in its designated slot on the base.
- Shuffle the Sale deck and place three cards into the slots on the Vault, facing out so that every player can read them. Place the other Sale cards face down in their slot on the base as a draw deck.
- Give each player a reminder card.
New Properties
[edit | edit source]As already stated, there are eight new title deeds that correspond to each of the action spaces - and as a result, the action spaces are now themselves properties that may be purchased. They cannot have houses and hotels built on them, similar to the railroads and utilities, and they may be traded just like any other property.
You may purchase any of the action spaces after you have landed on them, paying the Bank the appropriate amount and taking the title deed.
If a player lands on Go to Jail, they are sent to Jail even if they own the space.
The action spaces cannot be mortgaged.
Some of the action spaces have special effects that benefit the player that owns them:
- Chance and Community Chest: When a player lands on these spaces, the deed's owner draws two cards from the appropriate deck. They then select one to give to the lander to use and place the other one back in the deck at the bottom.
- Go to Jail: When a player pays the ₩50 fine to get out of Jail, the money is paid to the deed's owner rather than the Bank.
The Buy Die
[edit | edit source]After a player rolls and moves, they must roll the Buy Die before their turn ends. They may then take a certain action, according to the image that appears. There are three different images of the Buy die, each covering two sides. Note that the Buy die action is optional and a player may skip it if they so want.
- A green image of a hand giving another hand a stack of money. If this image appears the player may purchase one of the Sale cards in the Sale Vault - the price is listed on the top-left corner of the card. If the player wants to buy a card, they pay the appropriate price to the Bank and take the card, placing it face up in front of them to designate that they own it. The player then draws a replacement card from the Sale deck and places it in the slot on the Vault previously occupied by the card they purchased.
- A red cross. If this image appears the player may select another Sale card owned by another player to forcefully discard. The card is placed at the bottom of the Sale draw deck and the card's previous owner will lose its effects. They are allowed to offer a trade to dissuade the player from discarding the card.
- A yellow background with two black circular arrows. If this image appears, the player may discard one card from the Sale Vault without buying it and replace it with a card from the draw pile.
Sale Cards
[edit | edit source]A player is only allowed to have up to three Sale cards in their hand at any one time. If they obtain a fourth Sale card, they must discard one of their current Sale cards before they can start using the fourth card.
There are three different types of Sale cards, each denoted by the colour of the coloured bar at the top of the card:
- Red Sale cards are single-use and may only be used on their owner's turn.
- Green Sale cards have a special condition on them. If a player fulfils this condition, they win the game immediately.
- Yellow Sale cards have special abilities on them that will benefit the player as long as they have possession of the card.
End of the Game
[edit | edit source]The game will end once all of the properties have been purchased. Once this happens, the players collect money from the Bank for each property, equal to its current rent value.
The players then count up their cash, and the player with the most money wins.
The game will also end if a player fulfils the instant win condition on a green Sale card. This player wins the game immediately.
