Mycenaean Greece interdiction

[edit | edit source]

The Mycenaean's were a Late Bronze Age Greek civilization in the later part of the Bronze Age approximately 1750 to 1050 BC.[1] The Greeks of the classical age believed them to be the age of the heroes or humans closer to the gods.[2] The geographic location of the Mycenaean's where in the Mainland Greece, Aegean islands and Western Anatolia[1] But the argois is the most important spot in mycenaean archaeological culture this is where the citadel was. The 3 most important places where mycenae Tiryns Midea but there are also lots of citdals in places like (Dimini Thessaly lolkos) central greece.[2] argolit and boeotia would project their power across the aegaen island and maybe to the Asian Minor (modern day turkey). There is very litile that we know about Minoan and Myceneaens the terms Minion and Myceneaen are just archaeological names given to the civilizations. [2] (I think also source maybe sources 3) [3]

There were 3 citadels in ancient Greece mycenae may have not been the most dominant. all three of them were sill heavily fortified. we don't know the relationship of the 3 citadels today. The territory's could have been a independent kingdom or connected together but we don't know.[2]

The relationship between mycenaeans and the trojan war

[edit | edit source]

Very few people believed in the trojan war until the 18th century when herinrich sclimann tried to prove truth to the myth of the trojan war. His ____ Frank Calvert was the one who convinced him to dig at a site named Hisarlik, the site now identified as ancient Troy, 1871. He went to excavation first in turkey to find troy, got kicked out then went to the Greek main land; Mycenae, Tiryns and Treasury of Minyas. The reason he stopped digging there is because the Turkish denied him further permission to excavate at troy. [2]

note: [3] [4]The scholars of the 18th century would have largely rejected that the story's of the Trojan War in the Iliad had any truth to it till Sclimann came along.

The city of the mycenaea citadel

[edit | edit source]

So he goes to verify the Greek elements of the Trojan war in the Greek main land. He started to dig at the capital city of the leader Agamemnon, the city of mycenaea also called the citadel of mycenaea. It's on a rocky hill protected by thick walls that some thought were built by one eyed giants and others cylops. The reason for this belief was because many couldn't see a mortal building the tall walls and this can also be why they thought of this as the age of heroes. [2]

grave circle A

[edit | edit source]

Sclimann realized this isn't classical Greece this is much older then classic Greece because of a friend ___. So he started to dig at grave circle A, this is where he found the mask of Agamemnon. other findings would be: . This would have proved before the classical period there was a flourishing civilization. Because of this discovery the culture of the late bronze age people where referred to as mycenaeans.[2]
