What is different from monozygotic twins in normal pregnancy process, is that zygote is not completely separated within the first two weeks, partially separated zygote continue to mature, resulting in a conjoined fetus. This usually happen approximately at the first two weeks of pregnancy, the karyotypes, sex, blood types, hair colours, fingerprints, etc. of the two fetuses are all the same. There is about a case of conjoined twins per 100 thousand pregnancies, most conjoined twins die within the embryonic period, the success rate of childbirth only is one per 200 thousand.
