Elementary algebra is a simple algebra. Arithmetic only has numbers and operations (such as: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division), while algebra also uses symbols (e.g.: x, y, or a, b) to represent numbers. The symbols are called variables.
Chūděng dàishù shì jiǎndān de dàishù. Suànshù zhǐyǒu shùzì jíqí yùnsuàn (rú: jiā, jiǎn, chéng, chú), ér dàishù yě huì shǐyòng fúhào (rú: x, y huò a, b) lái biǎoshì shùzì, zhèxiē fúhào jiàozuò biànshù.
