There are literally millions of objects orbiting the Sun - asteroids, comets, meteors and Kuiper Belt objects - eight of the largest of these bodies are called the eight planets. In order from the Sun, they are:

Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.
