Cancer Epidemiology
[edit | edit source]- In 2018, there were approximately 18.1 million new cancer cases and 9.6 million cancer deaths worldwide
- Among the 18.1 million new cancer cases, Asia accounted for nearly half
- Among the 9.6 million cancer deaths, Asia accounted for nearly 70%
- Lung cancer is still the number one malignant tumor with morbidity (11.6%) and mortality (18.4%)
- The incidence rate was followed by female breast cancer (11.6%), prostate cancer (7.1%), colorectal cancer (6.1%); the death rate was followed by colorectal cancer (9.2%), stomach cancer (8.2%), liver cancer (8.2%)
- After suffering from cancer, the mortality rate of men was much higher than that of women
- Among the 18.1 million new cancer cases, 9.5 million were men, and Asian men accounted for nearly half of the total number of cases; the mortality rate was 60%
- There were 8.6 million new cancer patients among women, and Asian women accounted for 47.5% of the incidence; the mortality rate was just over half
- China's cancer incidence and death rate ranked first in the world
- Among the 18 million new cancer cases and 9.6 million cancer deaths, the number of new cases in China accounted for 3.804 million and the number of deaths accounted for 2.296 million
- Compared with other countries, China ranked first in the world in cancer incidence and mortality
- For every 100 new cancer patients in the world, 21 are Chinese
- More than 10,000 people were diagnosed with cancer every day in China, and an average of 7 people got cancer every minute
- On average, more than 6000 people died of cancer every day, and nearly 5 people died of cancer every minute
- Cancer incidence in China (2018):
(1) Lung cancer (2) Breast cancer (3) Gastric cancer (4) Colorectal cancer (5) Liver cancer (6) Esophageal cancer (7) Thyroid cancer (8) Cervical cancer (9) Brain cancer (10) Pancreatic cancer
- Cancer incidence in China (2018, male):
(1) Lung cancer (2) Gastric cancer (3) Liver cancer (4) Colorectal cancer (5) Esophageal cancer (6) Prostate cancer (7) Bladder cancer (8) Pancreatic cancer (9) Brain cancer (10) Lymphoma
- Cancer incidence in China (2018, female):
(1) Breast cancer (2) Lung cancer (3) Colorectal cancer (4) Thyroid cancer (5) Gastric cancer (6) Cervical cancer (7) Liver cancer (8) Esophageal cancer (9) Uterine cancer (10) Brain cancer
- Compared with the world, lung cancer was also the cancer with the highest incidence in China
- However, compared with the world, China's digestive system cancers such as colorectal cancer, liver cancer, esophageal cancer, and stomach cancer still accounted for a large proportion
