Artemisia vulgaris (mugwort)

[edit | edit source]

Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) is a common herbaceous perennial in the Asteraceae from Eurasia that spreads via both seeds and rhizomes to form dense stands in disturbed sites. Although individual plants are often easy to pull up, rhizomes remain in the ground and continue to propagate.[1]

[edit | edit source]

The following photographs and corresponding iNaturalist observations of Artemisia vulgaris were made at or very near the Skaneateles Conservation Area. Click on images to enlarge and read details on Wikimedia Commons or on the "iNat obs" links to view the corresponding observations at iNaturalist.

All recorded mugwort observations thus far (as of Jul 2021) lie along the logging road between the capped landfill at the transfer station and Cargile's maple stand.
