The Queensland Government announced during early 2009 that they would contribute sufficient fund allowing the redevelopment of the Gold Coast, Carrara Stadium. The stadium would have a 25,000 seat capacity and be scheduled to be completed in May 2011. Funding grants for the new stadium were received from the Gold Coast city council (20million), federal and state government (86 million) and AFL (10million).
