Template:TRS-tut-image
This page is part of Wikibooks Trainz Wikibook Administration. • It lists a template which may be useful editing Trainz. Trainz specific (special purpose) templates will be found in or under Category:Trainz Templates, which also lists/links to this Help page. |
- Purpose
This template is used on image and media pages that are used under fair use guidelines but encumbered by copyrights under the laws of some nations outside United States practices, so can't be uploaded to the Wikimedia Commons.
- It adds the page to the auto-category (or subcategories of) Category:Trainz tutorial images-non-free, using Standard Trainz pipetrick sorting
{{{sort|{{{p|}}}}}}{{PAGENAME}}
.
When given one of the specified parameters, it will assert and fill in the {{Information}} and {{Fairuse}} templates. As a convenience shortcut, given one of the registered Trainz Authors trigger initials (FB, JW, etc.) it will fill in the proper lines for author.
Enumerated Control Parameters
[edit source]The following keys passed as {{{1}}} (Arg-1) select the indicated sub-category.
- ONLY Arg-1 is tested for the sorting auto-categories, so these keys must be used.
- Other (named) parameters may be defined by equalities, such as author information (e.g. | JW = 1 ), chapter title ('book=' and no other placeholder parameters have any effect:
Any parameter shown below can be given in any case or mix of cases, not just the capitalized names shown... | |
Keyword | Meaning |
---|---|
BLEN | Blender version(s) modeling software[1] |
CM | Content Manager screenshots[2] |
DVR | Trainz Driver Module screenshots[3] |
ED | Non-free Editor screenshots |
GMAX | Gmax modeling software (Autodesk)[4] |
PSP | Corel's Paintshop Pro screenshots[4] |
RYD | Trainz Railyard Module screenshot[4] |
SUR | Surveyor Module screenshots[3] |
WIN | Unlisted non-free other Windows Application |
3DS | Autodesk's 3ds Max modeling software[4] |
Define one of the above keys to select appropriate matching subcategory | |
Define one of |dup= yes or |no= yes parameters to suppress calls to the {{non-free software screenshot}} template, if a second is generated. | |
All auto-categories can group images by specifying a similar (or ordinal) pipetrick sorting parameter: Any one of: {{{sort|}}} or {{{p|}}} with {{PAGENAME}} as default (sort= something, preferred) |
The following subcategories may be invoked automatically
| |
default parent of others: Category:Trainz tutorial images-non-free | |
---|---|
01 When Arg1= CM | then: Category:CM non-free-tutorial images-for-Trainz , for CM screenshots. |
02 When Arg1= ED | then: Category:Editor WINAPs non-free-tutorial images-for-Trainz, non-free text editor screen shots. |
03 When Arg1= GMAX | then: Category:GMAX non-free-tutorial images-for-Trainz |
04 When Arg1= SUR | then: Category:Surveyor non-free-tutorial images-for-Trainz , This for menu and Tool mode close-ups where iconography dominates an image. Surveyor "In-Use" instructional shots can be put up on the commons. |
05 When Arg1= WINAP | then: Category:WINAP non-free-tutorial images-for-Trainz , Non-free Windows Apps not given their own codes like GMAX and PSP. |
Provisional (possible) categories which we hope will remain empty redlinks: | |
0b When Arg1= BLEN | then: Category:BLENDER non-free-tutorial images-for-Trainz , Provisional, these should all qualify for commons. |
0c When Arg1= DVR | then: Category:Driver non-free-tutorial images-for-Trainz , panoramic, provisional for planning--upload to commons. |
0d When Arg1= WINOS | then: Category:Windows non-free-tutorial images-for-Trainz , Microsoft folders, batch files and CMD mode text... provisional, should now be okay to upload to Mediawiki Commons. |
0e When Arg1= 3DS | then: Category:3DS non-free-tutorial images-for-Trainz , provisional. |
- For example:
{{information |description = illustration of graphical based software used as part or step of a process for a tutorial about said process. |source = Johnwhelan |date = 2008 February 24 |author = [[user talk:Johnwhelan|John Whelan]] }}
can be generated by {{TRS-tut-image}}
alone; the template will fill in Wikibook handle Johnwhelan, his talk page link, etc.
Description | illustration of graphical software used as part or step of a process for a tutorial about said process. | |
---|---|---|
Source |
Johnwhelan | |
Date |
2008 February 24 | |
Author | ||
Permission (Reusing this file) |
See below. |
- When given one of the parameters,
it will fill in the first REQUIRED {{Fairuse rationale}} template, and add a commented out blank for additional pages to be specified later...
- For example:
{{Fairuse rationale |book = Trainz/Reskinning Auran's Basic Traincar with Gmax |source = Author's screenshot |not free = Screenshot of proprietary software |rationale = In order to illustrate how to use this specific software to create Trainz content step by step screen shots of the product in use help clarify to the reader exactly what they should be doing. It can be quite difficult to describe a graphical user interface with multiple drop down menus in words so that the reader can follow quite complex procedures. }}
- The key parameter field here above is 'book',
- the other parameters will be generated with what should be apropos boilerplate text like that shown below given the mode parameters, but can be overridden (customized) by specifying that parameter too. Note that 'book' is a full path Wikibook link to the tutorial page where the image is first used.
The results on a File namespace (image) page will look much like:
Non-free usage rationale for Trainz/Reskinning Auran's Basic Traincar with Gmax | |
---|---|
Source: |
Author's screenshot |
Not free because: |
Screenshot of proprietary software on Author's computer. |
Required because: |
In order to illustrate how to use this specific software to create Trainz content step by step screen shots of the product in use help clarify to the reader exactly what they should be doing. It can be quite difficult to describe a graphical user interface with multiple drop down menus in words so that the reader can follow quite complex procedures. |
- Faulty parameter use trap category
- Category:Bad Args passed to TRS-tut-image
- Other Auto-categorization for author's
- Set the indicated parameter to anything:
- FB - Category:Trainz related Images by Fabartus
- JW - Category:Trainz related Images by John Whelan
- ... to be continued
Notes
[edit source]- ↑ These should be place on the Commons, as is freeware sourced.
- ↑ These should generally be place on the Commons as list based screenshots have no artistic merit, and arguably each is unique to the users filter setup and loaded content in the install's data base. The uniqueness would qualify as license releasable under commons mind-think.
- ↑ a b These should generally be place on the Commons unless is of USA payware route, as in game renderings are panoramic views under Australian Copyright laws. US sourced payware would be fair use, so not eligible for the commons
- ↑ a b c d This group can never go on the Commons, so only fair use screenshots can be put up.
