Out of the 130 volcanoes in Iceland only 18 have erupted since 900CE. The most recent Icelandic volcano to erupt is barourbunga in august 2014. Barourbunga is 2005(m) (6515 ft.) tall at its highest peak. There are many other volcanoes in Iceland such as Askja, Grimsvötn and Edfell.The most active volcano in Iceland is Grimsvötn. In Iceland there is a very rare sight, this rare sight is called a geyser. It is a hole in the ground up to 6000M deep that shoots out boiling water up to 75ft high, these are caused by chambers in the deep crust of the earth heating until it gets to the explosive level and it shoots up out of the hole causing anything surrounding it getting soaked in scalding hot water.

There is over 200 volcanoes in Canada, there has been some major activity in Canada in the past 10,000 years. In Canada there are many islands made up by extinct volcanoes and volcanic activity. Canada is not known for it's volcanoes even though there are loads of them. They tallest volcano in Canada is Edziza which is 2,789M tall, the smallest is called Heart Peaks which is only 2,012M tall!
