User community, sample/population: Population: All adults fit into our survey population, but specifically recruitment will be done on a Midwestern college campus. Thus, the sample population will mostly consist of people aged 18 to mid twenties.

We would like to sample both men and women, gamers, non-gamers, and every one in between. Post-test, we will ask people how often they game and will see if there is a correlation between frequency of gaming and their perception/satisfaction.

Recruitment will be done via flyers with tabs on the bottom. These will be spread across the campus with information about the study.

Example flyer:

Analysis: How the subject performed versus how they perceived their performance versus how often they game.

We hypothesize that gamers will display greater performance, and perceive it to do more with skill. Meanwhile, non gamers will display poorer performance, and possibly perceive it as being due to the character’s lack of armor.

Charting the data per avatar type with performance and amount of gaming and tracking their perceptions should allow us to see if there is a correlation.
