Wikibooks:WikiProject OpenRewi - Open Legal Science/Reuse
Our materials are openly licensed under the Creative Commons BY-SA 3.0 licence. The open licence allows the material to serve as a basis for many other open educational projects. Professors, students and anyone else interested are welcome to use, transform and further develop the materials for their own purposes.[1]
What are the terms of the license in detail?
Our textbooks and cases may be copied and redistributed in any format or medium!
If a professor, course instructor, or private tutor thinks our material is so good that they want to make it available to all students: Go ahead! Anyone can freely distribute the material and the sections in it and make them available to anyone who is interested.
The material as a whola and individual sections of it may be remixed, transformed and built upon for any purpose, even commercially (subject to the conditions below)!
So if a professor, course instructor, or a private tutor finds that the explanations in a section of the material are perfect for their own purposes, they can simply reuse excerpts from it and also supplement them with their own explanations.
These rights are subject to two conditions:
- Attribution — You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use. Thus, professors, application course instructors or tutors must indicate that their case solution is based on our material and that they are using the material because it has been published under an open licence. They must also indicate if the material has been modified; they are not allowed to claim authorship for the reused materials.
- ShareAlike— If you remix, transform, or build upon the material, you must distribute your contributions under the same license as the original.
Anyone who uses passages of the material as the basis for their own work must also make their work based on it available under the CC BY-SA 3.0 license. Tutors, application course instructors or professors who develop cases, scripts or an essay based on our textbook are obliged to publish it under an open licence. These works are then also freely available to everyone.
