Bluets (Houstonia caerulea)
Description: These flowers are no larger than a grown-up's finger nail. Bluets have four petals that each come to a point. They are mostly white, but sometimes have a touch of blue in them. The center of the flower is yellow. The leaves grow around the bottom of the stem. Bluets usually stay low to the ground, but sometimes can grow as high as 8 inches. They are usually found in grassy places. Sometimes you can find them in yards, or even along a trail. Quick Facts: These flowers first appear right around Mother's Day. Some children love to pick them and give them to their mothers as an extra special gift.
