Description:
Cardinal Flowers grow to about four feet tall on the banks of rivers and streams. They have clusters of brilliant red flowers growing along most of their length. The leaves are up to eight inches long and two inches wide. Each flower has five petals, with the largest one being at the bottom center. The next largest petals are next to the bottom one, and two small petals grow at the top. Native Americans made a tea from the root and used it to treat intestinal sicknesses. They used a tea made from the leaves to treat bronchitis, and chest colds. Quick Facts: |
