The leaves are heart-shaped, and they float on the surface of the water. The flowers are small with five white petals. When the flowers get old, they start to fade and become almost see-through. Quick Facts: The Miccosukee, a tribe of Native Americans from Florida, used Floating Heart to treat shortness of breath, trembling, and coughing – an illness they called "turtle sickness."
