Editor's note: This category was ORIGINALLY started for the Trainz Wikibooks Trainz projects, but the general purpose nature of many of these template utilities suggested the original category should not exclude templates with other purposes and projects. After there were enough templates to split the lists into two categories, this one holding those General Purpose templates judged possibly usable and of interest to the editor's of other Wikibooks.
do not use the /doc template page system nor the {{documentation}} template system.
Many of these templates are readily convertible to that documentation method should they reach sufficient transclusion counts to make that worth while,
or are pending proof of concept and testing in advance of such /doc page creation, and will use the /doc page system if and when they are in widespread use.
This is a List category of templates which contains:
simple, preferable, imbedded usage instructions - vice - overdone, overused documentation subpages, which was designed to minimize loading on the servers when a template which was or might be changed also had widespread use and so ripple-changes affected the necessary updating of many many pages. (This is common on encyclopedia pages, but rare here on Wikibooks.)
