Notes, tips and variations

[edit | edit source]
  • Add avocado for an avocado and Vegemite sandwich.
  • Another variation is to not use butter during the creation and have just the Vegemite and bread.
  • Yet another variation is to spread Vegemite and then place sliced onions and a slice of cheese on toast and then place under a broiler or toaster to melt the cheese.
  • Some consumers assert that white sliced bread will give a superior result.
  • Staples of school lunches, particularly from the Tuck Shop or school canteen, are Vegemite and Lettuce and Vegemite and Cheese Sandwiches. In each case, it's simply a standard Vegemite Sandwich with an additional ingredient added.
  • Try to add ham and cheese as another idea, makes a very nice sandwich.
  • Vegemite on toast is a favourite breakfast food.
  • The reason why some people might search this up is due to the song "Down Under" by Men at Work which briefly mentions it.
