Boot Error Codes
[edit | edit source]If hardware or software problems occur, the DVR displays error codes on the LED display.
Code | Description | When Error Occurs | Action Required |
EP00 | No error | EP00 will only be shown on page D01 of the diagnostics page (press OK 2 times while the box is in standby). The box will display 0 on the leftmost LCD numeral (.0 ) | None |
Eb 01 | Object failed validation | After the display shows dl, indicating the validation check for the download has failed | Contact headend operator |
Eb 02 | Download time-out | After cycling twice through the OOB frequencies, this error occurs when the connection has timed out | None |
Eb 03 | Flash memory erase has failed | This occurs after the software object download completes and EF is displayed | Replace the set-top box |
Eb 04 | Flash memory programming failed | After the software object download is complete and FP is displayed | Contact your headend operator |
Eb 05 | Invalid DLC frequency | After the LED displays dl, indicating the validation check failed | Contact your headend operator |
Eb 06 | Hardware initialization failed | After plugging the set-top into an electrical outlet to begin the boot cycle | Replace the set-top box |
Eb 07 | Software object validation fail | After the software object download completes and FP is displayed | Contact your headend operator |
Eb 07 | Software object validation fail | After a successful software object download and the set-top is reset | No action required because the set-top repeats the software object download |
Eb 08 | Reserved | N/A | N/A |
Eb 09 | Software integrity check failed | Reset within two minutes of a complete software object download | No action required because the set-top repeats the software object download process |
Eb 10 | SUDB recreation | After plugging the DCT into an electrical outlet to begin the boot cycle | None |
Eb 11 | Invalid unit address | This is resettable only at the factory | Replace the set-top box |
Eb 11 | Failed to lock onto an OOB frequency | After cycling twice through the OOB frequencies (The display then shows Eb 02 indicating the software object download was unsuccessful) | Ensure the cable connections are tight |
Eb 12 | No COAC message received | After cycling twice through the OOB frequencies (The display then shows Eb 02 indicating the software object download was unsuccessful) | Contact your headend operator |
Eb 13 | No DLC message received | After cycling twice through the OOB frequencies (The display then displays Eb 02 indicating the software object download was unsuccessful) | Contact your headend operator |
Eb 14 | Bad object type or class | After the display shows dl, indicating the update failed during the download attempt | Contact your headend operator |
Eb 15 | No matching platform ID found | After cycling twice through the OOB frequencies (The display then shows Eb 02 indicating the software object download was unsuccessful) | Contact your headend operator |
Eb 18 | Object size mismatch | After the display shows dl, indicating the update failed during the download process | Contact your headend operator |
Eb 19 | Object size failed range check | After the display shows dl, indicating the update failed during the download process | Contact your headend operator |
Eb 20 | Invalid SUDB pointer | After plugging the DCT into an electrical outlet to begin the boot cycle | None |
Au | Authenticating | This means that the STB is authenticating the downloaded code (this displays only after the download process) | No action required |
Ef | Erasing | This means that the STB flash memory is being erased | No action required |
Fp | Saving | This means that the STB flash memory is being programmed | No action required |
____ | Download done | This means that the download over the network is done | No action required |
Hunt | Hunting for OOB | This means that the STB is looking for an OOB frequency to download the software from | No action required |
FR 1 | 75.25 MHz | The STB is attempting to lock on frequency 1 | No action required |
FR 2 | 104.20 MHz | The STB is attempting to lock on frequency 2 | No action required |
FR # | x MHz | Attempting to lock on frequency #, where: #=3-10, x=72.75, 92.25,98.25,103.75,107.25,107.40,110.25, 116.25 MHz; respectively | No action required |
PLL | Phase Locked/Lock Loop | This usually means that the Phase Locked Loop circuit in the set-top box may be failing or is damaged. This code also shows (depending on the model) when the set-top box is being power cycled. | Replace the set-top box/No action required |
crc/dEc | Initial hardware check | This code shows (depending on the model) when the set-top box is being power cycled and the internal components of the set-top box are being checked during boot. | |
FPGA | Field-programmable gate array | This usually means that the Field-programmable gate array circuit in the set-top box may be failing or is damaged. This code also shows (depending on the model) when the set-top box is being power cycled. | Replace the set-top box/No action required |
SEND / RFSH (display alternates) | Receiving refresh | This means that the headend operator has sent a "refresh" signal to update the subscription configuration. | No action required |
