Wikibooks:WikiProject Little Star

From Wikibooks, open books for an open world

Little Star is a WikiProject that is dedicated to addressing urgent technical issues on the English Wikibooks. These include, but are not limited to, fixing the various gadgets that do not currently work, creating new scripts and utilities to automate tasks that can be automated on other Wikimedia projects, and importing templates and Lua modules from other projects when needed.

Why is this needed?

[edit source]

No other English-language Wikimedia project has a section on the gadgets definition page called "broken-gadgets." There are many tools that would be (and often, in the past, were) invaluable for work on Wikibooks that are unavailable to us because of years of poor maintenance (e.g. MediaWiki:Gadget-markAdmins), being improperly ported over from other wikis (e.g. Twinkle), or being simply forgotten (e.g. MediaWiki:Gadget-GetCollection). And there has never been a widespread effort to fix these problems. Until now.

Why is "Little Star" called that?

[edit source]

One major long-term goal of this project is to restore Twinkle's functionality to Wikibooks. So, that's why.

How can I help?

[edit source]

Just start working on one of the tasks below in your userspace. Also, consider installing MassRfi, a script that allows you to request many page importations at once, which is likely to be useful when working with templates.
