Gavriil Bănulescu-Bodoni (1746-1821). The first metropolitan bishop of Bessarabia, metropolitan bishop of Herson and of the Crimea, metropolitan bishop of Kiev and Galicia. Contributed to the organisation of schooling and cultural institutions in Bessarabia. Buried in the monastery Căpriana.
