Family Tropaeolaceae
[edit | edit source]The Tropaeolaceae (nasturtium family) contains the single genus Tropaeolum, which in New York is represented by the cultivated ornamental commonly known as nasturtium. Note that this is not the same as the genus Nasturtium, commonly known as watercress, in the family Brassicaceae below.[1]

[edit | edit source]Berteroa
[edit | edit source]Berteroa incana (hoary alyssum) is the only species of its genus listed as currently naturalized in North America north of Mexico according to Al-Shehbaz (2020) in the Flora of North America. Berteroa mutabilis was last collected in the early twentieth century from garden escapes in KS and MA, and Berteroa incana, collected from the Catskills, was misidentified as Berteroa obliqua.[1]
