GENtle can be called from the command line/shell/DOS box. You can automatically import and open files by adding them to the command line:

> GENtle my_sequence.gb my_sequencing.ab1

New parameters as of version 1.8.6:

--view-sequencing-start=X
When auto-opening an alignment, show only the sequence from position X on (first position=1)
--view-sequencing-end=X
When auto-opening an alignment, show only the sequence up to position X on (first position=1)
--view-sequencing-reverse-complement
When auto-opening an alignment, show the reverse complement sequence
--no-splash-screen
Do not show splash screen
--no-tips
Do not show tips
