Thank you for volunteering to contribute something to this Wikibook!

There are many ways for you to contribute, even as a beginning student of Persian. Some are listed below. Add your thoughts as to what you think should be done to the Planning page so that discussion is not lost, scattered throughout various discussion pages.

To improve a book, you may need to be bold and make some substantial changes. If you need to move a page, or delete a page, or replace some content in order to make the book better, don't hesitate. Of course, if there are other editors contributing, it would be best to seek consensus before making any major changes.

Wiki is a collaborative environment. A book can benefit from each author's strengths and avoid any individual author's weaknesses if the book's authors communicate and collaborate with each other. Use other authors as a sounding board for new ideas. To accommodate the various work schedules, activity levels, and interests in the book, discussing your ideas on the Planning page and allow some time for any other authors to give their feedback to avoid disruption, especially massive changes. Improve the contributions of others, and be prepared for them to improve your work as well. The book may reach a higher level of quality than it would with only one author.

The writing practice images are really from an Arabic course. It would help to get Persian versions of these in various handwriting styles.

Sound Samples

Recordings of speech samples from native speakers are particularly important for beginners, especially ones who are studying alone with no teacher or native speaker on hand.

If you are a native Persian speaker, please consider recording sound files for any of the dialogue or vocabulary. To do so, you need a microphone and a read through the recording guidelines for the Spoken Wikipedia.

Other ways to contribute

• Write good, natural Persian dialogue to each lesson. See Persian/Planning#Dialogue.
• Expand the existing lessons outlined in Persian/Planning.
• Add any other topics that you think should be in this course to Persian/Planning.
• If you know a good explanation of a topic of grammar that has not yet been covered, please add it to Persian/Planning so it will be included in the lesson where that grammar topic is covered.
• Exercises let students see whether they really understand the expressions and grammar in a lesson. The more exercises, the better. Students can decide for themselves how many exercises to complete and how many to skip based on how well they grasp the lesson. So, feel free to add many exercises for each lesson topic. If you have an exercise for something that wasn't taught yet, put it in Persian/Planning for inclusion in a future lesson.
• Every lesson should teach some culture, customs, history, politics, or other elements of daily Persian life. If you have an idea for such topic, feel free to discuss it in Persian/Planning or just add it to a lesson. Just limit the size of each to be less than the combined dialogue, vocabulary, and grammar sections. If there is more depth to cover, link to a more detailed article, e.g. on Wikipedia.
• The course also needs people to improve the formatting, check for spelling mistakes, etc. in both English and Persian.
